Michael is responsible for the development and distribution of the firm’s Managed Volatility strategies.  As head of the Investment Committee, his duties include development of investment rules and policy, individual strategy components, and collaborating on the strategy methodology with our partner firm Newfound Research.  Michael has published several white papers on the topic of Managed Volatility.

Michael has more than 20 years of investment management experience.  Prior to joining IronGate, he served as Chief Investment Officer at Old North State Wealth Management in North Carolina.  He has served on the Board of Trustees at New Hanover Medical Center and served on its Asset Allocation Committee for the hospital’s pension plan.  Michael has extensive experience working directly with NHW clients at Citigroup Smith Barney and also a Multi-Family Office, where his duties as portfolio strategist were the implementation of liquid alternative investment options.  Michael has served as an equity analyst for Institutional Capital Corp (ICAP) in Chicago, which managed $16 billion for institutions, pensions, endowments, and HNW individuals.  Michael graduated from the University of Denver – Daniels College of Business with a Master’s degree in Finance.
